On 20th October 2568, Mr. Sambun Payawat, Governor of Mae Na Chon Subdistrict Administrative Organization, entrusted Mr. Suwannat Huatnattha, a qualified agricultural scientist, to participate in the seminar at the Luang Paang Hin Phun Project for the development of highland areas in the village of Paang Hin Phun, Mae Chaem District Chiang Mai Province. The Institute for Research and Development of Highlands (IRDHC) together with the Office for the Development of Agricultural Research (ODAR) organized the "Day for the Transfer and Exchange of Knowledge and Technology from Arabica Coffee Research and Sustainability on Highlands" with the honor of Mr. Thirphathar Phurkhon, Senior Advisor on Agriculture and Chairman of the IRDHC Research Committee, as the opening speaker along with networking entities and entrepreneurs. This forum was organized to be a source of knowledge exchange about the technology of growing quality coffee on highlands and the approach to developing the coffee industry to suit the context of Mae Chaem District Chiang Mai Province by: The event focuses on the success of the "Highland Development Project like the Luang Pahang Inle Project" which has succeeded in developing Arabica coffee to be consistent with community life and ecosystems, using the knowledge from the research of the project as a main axis, and integrating with network partners including Mae Chaem District Agriculture, community enterprises, farmer leaders and leading private companies such as Hillcoff, CPAll, Ptg, NOY, PTT, Oil and Retail and Central Business for Social Enterprises Co., Ltd. Industrial Development. The highland coffee industry not only helps create economic value but also plays an important role in conserving natural resources and reducing PM 2.5 pollution, which is a major problem in the northern region, and generating stable income for farmers. Research also promotes the development of production processes to international standards and extends knowledge to other highland communities to create a sustainable circular economy. This forum is also an important opportunity to enhance knowledge on coffee technology and innovation through comprehensive research on genetic conservation, breeding improvement, cultivation techniques development and upgrading of production standards to ensure farmers' security and promote "Mae Chaem coffee" as one of the unique highland products recognized at the international level. Systematically promoting Arabica coffee is one of the key directions of Thai highland development with the support of highland research by the National Programme and cooperation from all sectors. The project is a success and we are confident that it will be scaled up to other highlands and create sustainable change for the Thai coffee industry.
